Think budgeting isn’t for you? Here is why you’re wrong
For some reason, a lot of people avoid budgeting.
Usually there is a common misconception that having a budget relates to how much money you have.
But in fact, budgeting is the tool you use to help you create the life you want to live, regardless of what income you have.
Belief – I’ll start budgeting when I have more money
Truth – I’ll have more money when I start budgeting
Whether you are bad or good with money; whether you have a high or low income; lots of savings or lots of debt; have a regular pay-check or are self-employed… Budgeting is for everyone.
I could not have saved £15,000 and gone travelling if I didn’t set and stick to a budget.
To budget simply means to allocate a set amount of money to different expenses within your month. That is all. You are simply telling your money where to go.
Remember the budget doesn’t have to be tight or small or unrealistic. It is personal to you.
You can choose where you want your money to go, you get to choose how much you spend on food, how much you put into savings, how much you spend on eating out. It is all your choice so it can be as strict or relaxed as YOU like.
It is not a describing word; it is not an adjective. It is a verb, a doing word. It is an act of sorting your finances into categories.
You are giving yourself the ability to know exactly where all your money is going and that it is going in places you are happy with and not being wasted on useless worthless things that bring you no value.
When you spend some time going through your spending and setting yourself budgets around what you want to spend that month, you are allowing yourself to assess where you might be spending money unnecessarily.
It’ll allow you to save MORE money. Even if that is an extra £50 a month, it all adds up.
You can make it simple or you can make it complicated.
The point of a budget is to give you freedom!
If you wait until the day you have more money to start budgeting, that day will never come.
If you budget now, you will have more money before you know it.
Happy budgeting
